Barn Dance

Please join R.O.C.K., Ride On Center for Kids as we celebrate "Texas in the Movies" at the 2011 ROCK Barn Dance and Open House.

As we highlight Texas's stature in the movie industry. think back to some of the classics of cinema:

Giant (1956) - Texas rancher Bick Benedict (Rock Hudson) meets and falls in love with a Maryland farm owner's daughter, Leslie (Elizabeth Taylor). The story of their family and its rivalry with cowboy and (later oil tycoon) Jett Rink (James Dean) unfolds across 2 generations.

The Last Picture Show (1971) - Set in tiny Anarene, TX, a group of 50's high school students comes of age in a bleak, isolated West Texas town that is slowly dying.

Apollo 13 (1995) - Based on the true story of the 13th Apollo mission bound for the moon, this tells the story of heroic astronauts Lovell (Tom Hanks), Haise (Bill Paxton), and Swigert (Kevin Bacon) who rescued the mission with skill and dedication.

True Grit (2010) - Jeff Bridges is back as Rooster Cogburn, a role originally immortalized by John Wayne, a tough US Marshall who helps a young woman track down her father's murderer.

Please join us--and maybe even the paparazzi--in celebrating Texas and R.O.C.K., Ride On Center for Kids.

We'll kick off the week with the Bam Dance on Saturday, April 9, starring the high-energy, high-stepping band, Two Tons of Steel. The band's rambunctious brand of country music has been inspiring listeners for 2 decades. This band can rouse revelers like no other!

Rodeo Week will follow the Barn Dance from Tuesday, April 12 - Friday, April 15. Just join us at the arena as our students and horses demonstrate their skills and receive awards for a job well done.

And on Saturday, April 16, as the grand finale, the R.O.CK. Open House closes the week of celebration at the Merlin Hoppe Arena. Bring the children for a wholesome afternoon of games, rider demonstrations, train rides, rock wall climbing, food, and entertainment.
